Traditional orchards are a historic form of fruit cultivation with a diverse range of tall fruit trees (in contrast to low-growing fruit plantations) and offering multi-purpose agricultural usage. The ecological importance of traditional orchards is due to the wide range of fruit trees they preserve as well as in the beneficial impact on the micro-climate and the soil.
