The Monitor of Settlement and Open Space Development is characterized by high spatial resolution of base data (scale approx. 1 : 10,000), regular updating of indicator values, provision of data for different time frames and transparency in the methods of calculation. The development of land use for various spatial units can be shown in detail to aid comparison.
Small-scale spatial analyses within towns and municipalities are possible, as are qualitative evaluations in urban areas (e.g. building density), in open space as well as protected areas (e.g. degree of naturalness).
