Official land use statistics

At the heart of Germany’s official statistics on land use is the so-called Land Survey According to the Type of Actual Use. Data is compiled every four years by the statistical agencies of the Federal Republic and the various states, derived from the real estate cadastre. The statistic Settlements and Transportation Infrastructure (SuV) has been calculated every year since 2001 and is the most important category of land use. 17 different types of land use are included in official statistics (determined according to the principle of dominant land use form) for the municipalities, districts, states as well as the entire territory of Germany.
