Transportation space

In the Monitor of Settlement and Open Space Development, transportation space is defined as those areas developed as infrastructure for the various modes of transportation (road, rail and air), particular land which has been soil sealed. This means that transportation space is more narrowly defined than in other sources which, for example, include waterways, lakes and seas as well as the available airspace.

The spatial categories settlement, transportation and open space together constitute the complete reference area (total area = 100 %).
